Does Pinterest SEO traffic help your website ranking on Google?

I assume you’re a lot smarter than me.

Let’s rewind the clock a little to Amy, November 2021 just launching Amytime. Do I need a website? Yes. How on earth do I make a website? Google search….how to make a website.

Finds Wix…remember, I was brand new, I knew nothing. Wix has served me well, but I know there are many other wonderful options.

Back to Wix, grab a template, throw up a few photos, Bob’s your uncle. (I actually do have an uncle called Bob so this phrase always made me laugh.)

Crickets.

I thought, if you make a website, it is automatically going to get you ‘found’ on Google.

Turns out that is a big fat no.

Google is a search engine. Just like Pinterest, Google has its own SEO, search engine optimization. There are multiple places on your website and on each web page that you need to be using those vital keywords to help Google, a machine, understand what your site is about, what content is on each page and who best to serve that content to.

The other important factor to note about Google is the competition is FIERCE. As my friend Amber says often “no one wants to be on page 2”.

Back at the start of this year I met the incredible Amber of Maevan Marketing. A true marketing and branding genius. She is single handedly responsible for my website looking as stunning as it does.

Amber and I also hosted a SEO Summit with our sweet friend, and blogging pro Krystle Straub. We wanted to help business owners like yourself to connect the dots between your website, your blog posts and your Pinterest pins. How those 3 work together, like 3 pieces of a pie to create a SEO powerhouse designed to get you new leads, drive traffic to your website and make sales!

Is Pinterest SEO and Google SEO the same?

I get this question a lot. If I have keywords for Google SEO, are those the same keywords to use for Pinterest SEO? Usually no. A Google SEO strategy is totally different to a Pinterest SEO strategy. Simply put, the way people are searching for you and your business on Google is different to the way they are searching for you and your business on Pinterest.

To put it extremely simply, people are searching on Google for solutions, people are searching on Pinterest for ideas. Therefore, the keywords you’ll use for each platform will vary.

Do I need a separate Google SEO Strategy and a Pinterest SEO Strategy?

Absolutely. First of all, SEO strategies are beyond just a list of keywords. SEO strategies also tell you exactly how and where to use the perfect combination of those lists of keywords in all the right places to see success. The same goes for Pinterest keywords. Did you know there are 9 different places to use your keywords on Pinterest pins? There are 10 different places to use your Google keywords!

You can download my FREE Pinterest Keywords tool to find all 9 places you need to be using those Pinterest SEO keywords.

How do Pinterest pins help my website rank higher on Google?

I asked Amber to answer this for us. She said:  “When you're in the early stages of trying to show up on Google, the only way to boost your site's authority is to drive traffic to it. But, it can be a double edged sword because you're not getting traffic from Google just yet and need to drive traffic another way. That's where the Pinterest magic comes in. You can strategically share content on Pinterest that aligned with your ideal client, drive that traffic to your website, connect with your ideal client through your blog post, service page, whatever you're sending them to, use that page content strategically to grab them as a lead through a freebie or lead magnet - ALL while you're simultaneously showing Google that your website is a valuable resource for xyz topic that you're getting traffic about from Pinterest. It's a 3-for-1 deal --> Website Traffic, Lead Generation and Authority Building so you can finally create a marketing strategy that leverages the power of your website and Pinterest instead of relying on the 24 hour social media marketing circus.”

Sounds good? Let’s get started. If you are ready to leave the social media marketing circus behind, drive traffic to your website and finally make money on Pinterest, schedule your Pinterest Strategy Session with me today.
