At the end of the day, a business that isn’t making any money is just an expensive hobby.
When starting a business you have to seriously consider any investments made, both in time and in money.
There are a number of ways to make money on Pinterest but remember, marketing on Pinterest is not an overnight success.
In this blog, we'll cover...
You’re in the right place.
These days, the majority of my clients are looking for marketing without social media or at least with less emphasis on social media. I get it. Social media can be very overwhelming, it takes a lot of effort for not a lot of kickback. One Instagram page with a fairly large following recently posted that they’re making less than one dollar per hour with 4.5 million monthly views.
So why do we keep investing more time on Instagram? Each new algorithm update seems to promise more reach, more engagement but the truth is that each update is bringing the opposite. Don’t even get me started on how your own followers barely see your own content…..the ones who have actually hit ‘follow’ because they want to follow and see your content, and yet IG continues to not show them your content. Make it make sense.
Pinterest is truly one of the best ways to market your business. The algorithm is not dependent on the amount of followers you have, Hallelujah. Due to Pinterest being a visual search engine, the possibilities are endless for the amount of people and type of audiences your content can reach ...for years to come.
Using Pinterest for marketing your business does not need to be complicated. The analytics Pinterest provides inform you exactly what is working, from what content is getting the most reach, what content is driving the most engagement, and especially...outbound clicks, the most important Pinterest analytic of all.
So how to actually make money on Pinterest?
One way to make money on Pinterest is to use affiliate links and tag products directly on your pins! Did you know you can tag up to 25 product links per pin? So all you fashion influencers out there, use those Like to Know It style graphics, make them into pins and TAG AWAY! Yes, direct product tags on each pin means your affiliate sales will skyrocket. Just ask my clients!
If you have a product based business or a service based business, your Pinterest strategy will vary.
How to make money on Pinterest for a products based business?
If you have products to sell or digital downloads to purchase you should seriously consider becoming a verified merchant. *verified merchant program blog coming soon.
You can sell your products directly on Pinterest, again keep in mind, even if you’re not a verified merchant, you can still ‘tag’ your products directly on your pins!
How to make money on Pinterest as a service based business?
If you are a service based business, create pins promoting your services. Direct traffic to your booking page, your services page and blog posts featuring client testimonials or write ups.
Pinterest can be the number one driver of traffic to your website, so take advantage of that! When considering what pins to create, you always want to consider the end destination…what is the URL this pin will be taking your audience to? What happens once they actually click through to that URL? How are you capturing that lead? Can we encourage them to sign up for your email list? Can we offer them a discount to encourage them to purchase? Do you have a freebie they could download?
Honestly, the ways to market your business on Pinterest are truly endless. Sometimes we just need to wrap our head around all of the potential and then come up with a definitive plan of action. This is exactly why so many of my clients love scheduling their Pinterest Strategy Sessions with me.
Now I mentioned at the start, often when growing a business we need to give serious consideration to all investments made, both in time and money. Pinterest is not an overnight success. It can take at least four to six months to really start to see any kind of results, and up to a year to really gain some traction. I have clients that have made sales within their first month marketing on Pinterest, I have clients that didn’t see their first sale until six months. It can vary greatly depending on your business, your offers, your products and honestly…your strategy.
I am here to help. If you’re looking to make money on Pinterest before the end of the year, here are our options for working together:
